I'm Just a Farm Girl....

We've arrived, at the Taj Palace that is... yesterday's move was rather uneventful, which I was thankful for! We were whisked away from Uppal's Orchid and shuttled to the posh Taj Palace. The chauffeur was quite chatty and announced my arrival. Upon stopping at the front door, several men bustled over to open my door and escorted me to a woman attendant. The woman attendant called me by name (how did she know my name) and led me into the hotel - I kept stopping and looking for the front desk so I could check in, but she scooted me right into my room! What? no check in? She took all my information right in the comfort of my own room and kept asking for my preferences - I don't know, clean linens and t.p.? Remember... I vacationed in Tibet just a few years ago. Running water was a luxury at some points. Seconds after my personal assistant left, my phone rang - it was the concierge calling to confirm my car to work. Fantastic! I bet I won't have to wait 2 hours today to get to work!!

The rest of the day followed suit- folks calling me by name (how do they know my name) and smiling. Before work, I ordered room service. Because I work nights, my company has arranged for a fixed menu with room service during the day. I ordered a sandwich and a Diet Coke and got ready for work. I was told it would take about 20 minutes for my food - I had plenty of time. Not even ten minutes later, my door bell rang - it was my food, on silver platter - literally! I felt so fancy eating my club sandwich on such elegance! I giggled to myself during my entire lunch. On the way out to the car, again, calling by name and chatting me up. I joked with my colleague that we'd better not look like we're lost... we'll have everyone scurrying about within seconds!

After work and returning to our "home", again, we were announced, several men sprinted to open doors and shoo us into the hotel. I took a quick tally of how many staff I saw on the way up to my room - now, these are just visible staff, not the ones I couldn't see with my own eye at that point in time. There were 16 hotel staff at 3:45 am busy as could be in the hotel lobby. Even as I write this message, I have 3 people in my room changing linens, giving me water, filling my chocolate box and fruit plate. Goodness, I'm just a simple small town girl - a cheese sandwich is just fine, thank you.
